Washington Township Girl Scout Troop #2220 Takes Part in Indy Do Day
by Lisa Treadwell
After spending each day helping folks buy and sell houses as an Indianapolis and Washington Township REALTOR, I love to help out with my daughter’s girl scout troop and serve as the co-chair of this year’s Indy Do Day.
I’m so proud of my girls and parents in Washington Township Girl Scout Troop #2220!
The girls have jumped to the challenge and are taking part in a service project for
Indy Do Day, a city-wide volunteer initiative running right now, September 29-October 1, 2016. This three-day event is a chance to highlight the good Hoosiers are doing all over the city and encourage others to action.
It’s a great opportunity to teach the girls about civic engagement, which is perfect timing because many of the girls are also learning about being a good citizen in some of their school classrooms this month.
We met at our normal spot, my office at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Indiana Realty on Wednesday night, kicking off Indy Do Day with Phase One of our project.
We prepared “goody bags” full of treats that we will then share with residents of a local senior retirement community. The troop will then travel to
Traditions at Solana, an Indianapolis independent and assisted living senior community, next Wednesday, October 5 to play bingo with residents and enjoy a bit of early Halloween fun, dressing in costumes and “reverse trick or treating,” passing out the prepared treat bags to residents of the community. Some of the girls even plan to go in their Halloween costumes!
We’re also inviting other troops to join us at Traditions at Solana. If there is a troop you know of who would want to join us next week,
please contact me here.
