Indianapolis Houses for Sale

This is part of my regular series of reviews. I’ve visited retirement communities across the Indianapolis, Indiana area in order to best guide my senior real estate clients to the communities best-suited for their needs.

An older facility on the south side of Indianapolis, the Altenheim is a full service retirement community that’s been serving our area for more than 100 years. This exceptional longevity means that literally tens of thousands of families over the past 10 decades have benefitted from the care provided by the Altenheim.

As I walked onto the 32-acre campus in Beech Grove, Indiana, I noticed a collection of garden homes, residential apartment homes and a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center that made it clear that a move to the Altenheim was not about giving up independence: it’s about maintaining it.

Buoyed by a team of professionals, I was impressed with the staff’s consistent approach to helping residents develop a retirement program specifically tailored to the needs and wishes of both the individual and their family.

The Altenheim campus provides independent living, assisted living, short tem rehabilitation and long term care programs that are developed with the help of health care professionals.

Assisted living options include: restaurant-style dining, housekeeping and flat linen service, all utilities (except telephone), cable television, scheduled transportation for shopping, special events, medical appointments and more, access to social, cultural and educational programs and activities, 24-hour emergency response system, and interior and exterior maintenance.

Owned by a family-based corporation that’s intent on treating all residents like family, the Altenheim is an excellent choice for individuals and families that appreciate the character and proven track record of a community that’s been a part of Indianapolis since the early 1900’s.

If you’d like further information concerning what I’ve learned from visiting with the staff and patients at the Altenheim, or for help with your own, personal retirement moving plans, please contact me at lisa@indyreexperts.com or  317-863-4325.
