by Lisa (Parrett) TreadwellI’ve spent some time recently chatting with Samantha Purevich, the New Energy Wellness Coordinator for American Senior Communities at
Allisonville Meadows in Fishers, Indiana. They have begun a very cool fitness program that’s offered to adults 50+ in the Fishers and Indianapolis area.
Best of all, it’s available not only to their residents, but to anyone in the general public aged 50 and up.
“I work in the fitness gym that is open to the public for individuals who are 50 and older that would like to work out 3 days a week,” says Samantha. “The program is designed to help senior citizens in the community by providing specific training programs and specialized equipment for those who are aging. The program is supervised Monday, Weds, and Friday and the gym is open 7:30am – 4:30pm to the public.”
In addition to Allisonville Meadows, the New Energy Wellness program is also working at other American Senior Communities locations in Indianapolis, Brownsburg, Avon, Greenwood, and Zionsville.
I totally appreciate the fact that this is open to ALL older adults in the Indianapolis area. Their Health Promotion Coordinator is trained in Health and Fitness and will work with you and your physician to design a low-impact, customized exercise regimen. They supervise and assist members at all times while motivating them to achieve their goals. Blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation levels are monitored before and after each exercise session.
