This is the latest installment of my series of excursions to assisted living facilities and retirement communities across the Indianapolis area. As a Senior Move Expert in the Indiana real estate arena, I consider it my responsibility to stay up-to-date with these communities and be able to offer recommendations to any of my clients who may be considering selling their homes and moving into an assisted living facility.
I recently visited with the Executive Director and Marketing Specialist at Elmcroft of Fort Harrison, a 58-unit senior living community in Lawrence Township, Indianapolis, Indiana. Elmcroft (formerly known as Greentree Assisted Living) is situated on the exact site that was the former Fort Benjamin Harrison Military Base until it was decommissioned in 1995.
As a result, the community maintains a charming military character and holds onto some of the bases’ physical history including refurbished housing and a newly privatized officers club.
One of the first things I noticed about Elmcroft was it’s extremely warm atmosphere. It’s easy to see the team there knows and cares about all of the residents. The friendly vibe carries flows through the community…even the chef was out and about chatting with residents.
The proximity of Ft. Harrison State Park is an added bonus with residents often enjoying fishing trips and other excursions into the park, along with shopping trips to nearby Castleton. Additionally, Pendleton Pike is right around the corner, allowing for easy trips for entertainment into downtown Indianapolis.
As an assisted living community, Elmcroft offers four different apartment floor plans including a studio, one bedroom, a deluxe one bedroom, and two bedroom apartments. Floor plans are HERE.
Residents enjoy a steady slate of activities. Check out an example of the daily activity calendars HERE.
You’ll find Elmcroft at Fort Harrison at 8025 Doubleday Dr. Indianapolis, Indiana 46216
