Is dementia preventable or curable? This has become a hot topic as well as a controversial one. Our presenter will share information gleaned from preventative studies about a delayed onset as well as a possibility for a cure.

Unlike our typical meetings with a panel of experts, we will be hearing from an Indiana Chapter Alzheimer’s Association educator during June’s meeting.

Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways for people with dementia to communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present challenges for caregivers to manage. Join us to learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.

Resources for: Long-Term Care & Hospice

Thursday, October 8th | 10:00 am – 11:30 am (EST)

Longterm care and hospice are not topics we typically talk about while sitting around the dining table with our loved ones, however, they are very real and necessary conversations that need to take place.

Having tough conversations about our wants and needs helps loved ones plan and implement our wishes when we can no longer express ourselves fully. Too many times family members either struggle to figure out what dying loved ones would have wanted or just make decisions without considering what is best for everyone.

Removing the guesswork when it comes to later in life (or death) decisions, helps loved ones plan and gives them space to heal and grieve without feeling so overwhelmed.

The next Indy Senior Living Series will explain key strategies for later in life planning so that you and your family members can focus on quality time together instead of the details of healthcare and planning. You will not want to miss our panel!
