Advice
Shared with Older Adults and Caregivers on Decluttering and Moving
Indianapolis,
IN: When
older, Indiana adults – be they baby boomers, senior citizens or the
elderly – make the decision to downsize and move from a longtime
family home to a smaller, more manageable apartment or condo, the
challenges they face can be overwhelming. The same is true for family
caregivers who have made the commitment to take care of their senior
or elderly loved one.
Whether
it’s a move cross-country to a golf course condo, across Indianapolis
to a mother-in-law cottage, or down the street to a retirement
community, the multitude of logistical, financial, and emotional
challenges can be overwhelming for the boomer, senior, or family
alike.
Learning
how to manage those issues is the topic of a series of free seminars
scheduled across Central Indiana in 2014 called “Downsizing Made
Easy.”
Presented
by Lisa (Parrett) Treadwell, a Certified Senior Housing Professional
of The Seniors Real Estate Institute and owner of The Indy Real
Estate Experts of Keller Williams Realty, the series of seminars will
include presentation and discussion of The 5 Steps to Downsizing
Made Easy

along with topics including: questions to consider before making a
move, housing needs checklist, senior living options, questions for
touring retirement communities and skilled care facilities, forms
like moving timetables and housing comparison charts, tips for hiring
various professionals related to the moving process, guidance on
estate sales and estate auctions, and many other pertinent topics.
“As
an Indianapolis Realtor who specializes in helping senior citizens
and their families with their real estate needs, this part of my job
is a great joy. Seniors and their families often don’t know which way
to turn when making these important decisions,” says Treadwell.
“Downsizing and moving can certainly seem overwhelming, but I’m
happy to share how it can actually be made relatively easy.”
The
seminar schedule is as follows:
Brookdale Place of Willow Lake
